Infested Prism Rework Guide: v0.106 Enemy Balance Shift

๐Ÿ“ Patch Analysis ยท Updated May 31, 2026 ยท 8 min read ยท Hot Topic

The Infested Prism was one of six enemies reworked in v0.106.0, and it's become the most discussed non-boss encounter in the community. Previously a straightforward Act 2 elite that spawned parasites, the reworked Prism now uses Reflective Carapace, Parasite Burst, and a cascading spawn mechanic that punishes AoE-heavy decks. This guide explains exactly what changed, why it matters, and how to beat the new version.

What Changed in v0.106.0

Old Infested Prism (Pre-v0.106)

New Infested Prism (Post-v0.106)

โš ๏ธ The AoE Trap: The old strategy was "AoE everything and win." Now, killing parasites with AoE can trigger Parasite Splitting โ€” your Blizzard kills 3 parasites, 1 splits into 2, and now you have 4 parasites instead of 3. Precision single-target damage is often better than AoE here.

New Attack Pattern

How to Beat the New Prism

Strategy 1: Surgical Parasite Removal

Kill parasites one at a time with single-target damage. This avoids the split mechanic (splits only trigger on death, but single-target kills are more controlled). Once parasites are dead, Prism loses Reinforced Shell and you can burn it down safely.

Strategy 2: Ignore Parasites, Tank the Burst

If you have massive block generation (Barricade, Frost Orbs, Feel No Pain), you can ignore parasites, burn Prism to 50%, and block the Burst damage. Then clean up.

Strategy 3: Doom / Execute Bypass

Necrobinder can apply Doom to Prism, ignore the parasites entirely, and execute Prism at 40-50% HP before Parasite Burst triggers. This is the fastest and most consistent strategy if you have the Doom cards.

Character Matchups

๐Ÿ’ก Pro Tip โ€” Turn 1 Play Order: On Turn 1, do NOT play your AoE immediately. Instead, play block/mitigation, then on Turn 2 (Carapace still active but parasites have attacked once), use single-target removal on 1-2 parasites. On Turn 3 (Carapace expires), burn Prism with your big attacks while handling remaining parasites.

Community Verdict

The Infested Prism rework achieved its goal โ€” it's no longer an "AoE and win" freebie. The fight now tests your deck's ability to handle:

  1. Damage mitigation during Carapace turns
  2. Single-target precision (or the block to tank Burst)
  3. Sustained damage (220 HP + healing)

Overall difficulty increased from B-Tier to A-Tier. It's now a legitimate gear check that can end runs if your deck lacks either precision damage or massive block.
