Regent vs Silent: The Damage Dealer Showdown

โš”๏ธ Comparison Guide ยท Updated Jun 13, 2026 ยท 6 min read ยท Two DPS Philosophies Collide

Silent holds the crown at 35.6% WR. Regent sits at the bottom with 21.2% WR. But raw win rates don't tell the whole story โ€” these two characters represent fundamentally different DPS philosophies. Silent is a tempo burst damage dealer; Regent is a scaling minion-based DPS. Understanding their differences helps you decide which playstyle fits you better, and reveals what Regent needs to become competitive.

Why Silent Wins: Tempo Is King

Silent's dominance comes from tempo. Sly Strike is a 1-cost common that deals 8 damage and draws a card on discard โ€” it's effective from Floor 1 to Act 4. Silent kills enemies on turn 3-4 consistently, before enemy damage scaling becomes threatening. In STS2, fast kills = less damage taken = more campfire upgrades = snowball.

Regent's problem isn't weak late-game โ€” it's surviving long enough to reach it. A Regent deck with 4 minions + Monarch Decree + Monarch's Gaze out-damages Silent on turn 6+. The issue: most A15+ fights are decided by turn 4.

Where Regent Actually Excels

The v0.107.0 Buffs: Did They Help?

Monarch's Gaze going from 3โ†’2 cost was significant โ€” it lets Regent play the Power + a minion in the same turn instead of passing. The Reflect nerf (16โ†’15 block) was negligible. However, these changes only improved Regent's WR by ~1.2%, nowhere near enough to close the 14.4% gap with Silent.

๐Ÿ”ฎ What Regent Needs in v0.108.0

To be competitive at A15+, Regent needs: (1) minion summon cost reduction (2โ†’1 cost for basic summons), (2) Monarch Decree buff (+3โ†’+4 Strength per minion), or (3) a new early-game minion that survives more than 2 turns. Without at least one of these, Regent remains the hardest A20 character.

๐Ÿ’ก Verdict: Silent is the better damage dealer at every Ascension level. But Regent's ceiling โ€” a fully deployed minion army with Monarch Decree + Gaze โ€” is aesthetically the most satisfying DPS in STS2. If you're playing for fun rather than win rate, Regent's "board state" playstyle offers an experience Silent's cycling engine can't match. And in co-op, Regent is genuinely S-tier as a block anchor.
