STS2 Weekly Meta Report: Week 25 — The Quiet Before v0.108.0 (June 9–15, 2026)

📊 Meta Report · Updated Jun 13, 2026 · 6 min read · Week 25 of EA

Welcome to the STS2Guides Week 25 Meta Report. This week's headline: nothing happened — and that's the story. No new patch since v0.107.0 (June 4), no dev stream confirmation, no tournament events. The playerbase has plateaued at ~85K monthly average (Steambase, −25.1% MoM). Everyone is holding their breath for v0.108.0 on June 18. Here's what the community is theorycrafting during the lull.

Player Count: Stabilizing or Stagnating?

MonthAvg PlayersMoM ChangePeak
March 2026285,247— (Launch)574,638
April 2026173,779−39.1%362,767
May 2026114,109−34.3%233,369
June 202685,449−25.1%153,001

The decline is decelerating (−39% → −34% → −25%). If this trend holds, STS2 will stabilize around 60-70K concurrent by July, which is still excellent for a deckbuilder roguelike. For context, original Slay the Spire's all-time average was ~10K — STS2 is holding 8× that at its lowest.

Meta Snapshot: What's Still Broken (Week 25)

1. Silent Sly Discard — 35.6% WR 👑

Three weeks post-discovery and Sly Discard remains untouchable. The archetype's win rate has actually risen 0.3% since Week 24 as more players optimize card picks. Key cards: Sly Strike, Calculated Gamble, Tactician+. The community consensus is that Sly Strike needs a nerf in v0.108.0 — most predictions target either damage reduction (8→6) or cost increase (1→2).

2. Necrobinder Doom — 28.4% WR ⬆️

Doom Execute gained 2.1% WR since v0.107.0's Sic 'Em buff indirectly strengthened the archetype. More minion generation = more turns to stack Doom safely. Currently the #2 build by win rate at A20. If Doom goes untouched in v0.108.0, it could overtake Sly Discard by Week 27.

3. Ironclad Exhaust Engine — 26.1% WR ↔️

Stable but unspectacular. Juggernaut buff (5→6) added ~1% WR. Exhaust Engine remains the most consistent A0-A15 build but falls off at A20 where 6 damage/block per exhaust isn't enough against 700+ HP bosses.

4. Defect Focus/Orbs — 22.8% WR ⬇️

Slight WR decline as the meta speeds up. Defect's setup-dependent nature (3-4 turns to deploy orbs) struggles against the increasingly tempo-focused meta. Needs a buff or new card in v0.108.0.

5. Regent Monarch — 21.2% WR ↗️

Monarch's Gaze buff (3→2 cost) helped Regent find a foothold. Still the weakest character overall but the trajectory is positive. Reflect nerf (16→15) barely registers.

Community v0.108.0 Wishlist

🔮 Most-Requested Changes (Reddit + Discord Consensus)

Nerfs Expected: Sly Strike damage (8→6), Doom execute cap (50%→40%), Exhaust Engine exhaust-per-turn cap.
Buffs Hoped For: Defect starting orb count (3→4), Regent Monarch's Gaze block synergy, Silent Poison rework, new Act 4 content.
Wildcard: 6th character teaser in patch notes. Rumors persist from the April roadmap "future content" slide.

Week 25 Timeline

💡 Editor's Note: This is the last meta snapshot before v0.108.0 potentially reshapes everything. If Sly Discard gets nerfed, Necrobinder and Ironclad will battle for the #1 spot. If Defect gets buffed, expect a surge of new Defect players. Bookmark the Patch Notes page and our v0.108.0 Predictions Guide — we'll update both within hours of the patch dropping.
